Hey mama,
Congratulations on reaching week 7 of your pregnancy! This is an exciting time as your little one continues to grow and develop.
Discover what’s happening during week 7 of pregnancy as your baby continues to grow and develop. From the formation of facial features to the development of important organs, learn about the exciting milestones your little one is reaching.
Embryo Development in Week 7
At week 7, your baby is about the size of a blueberry and is now considered a fetus. Their arms and legs are starting to form, and little fingers and toes are beginning to take shape. Your baby’s facial features, including their eyes, nose, and mouth, are becoming more defined. And even though they’re still tiny, their brain is growing rapidly.
It’s incredible to think about all of these changes happening inside your body, isn’t it? Your little one is growing and changing every day, and you’re doing an amazing job supporting them.
Early Pregnancy Symptoms
By now, you may be experiencing more pronounced early pregnancy symptoms, such as morning sickness, frequent urination, and food aversions. These symptoms can be tough to deal with, but remember that they’re a sign that your body is working hard to support your growing baby.
If you’re struggling with morning sickness, try snacking on small, frequent meals throughout the day and drinking plenty of fluids. Ginger and peppermint teas may also help to soothe your stomach.
Prenatal Care
Just like in week 6, it’s important to see a healthcare provider for prenatal care throughout your pregnancy. Your healthcare provider can perform regular check-ups to monitor your health and the development of your baby. They may also perform an ultrasound to check on your baby’s growth and development.
Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
During pregnancy, it’s essential to continue taking good care of yourself. Eating a well-balanced diet and getting regular exercise can all help to support a healthy pregnancy. Check out our meal plan for first trimester here.
Dating Scan
The dating scan is usually performed between 8 and 14 weeks of pregnancy and is used to determine an estimated due date.
During the scan, the sonographer will measure your baby’s length from their head to their bottom, called the crown-rump length, which can provide a precise estimate of how far along you are in your pregnancy. The scan can also check for the baby’s heartbeat, the number of babies you’re carrying, and assess the general health and development of your little one. The best time for the dating scan is 8 weeks.
