The Lamaze method was first introduced in the 1950s and is based on the idea that women can be empowered to take an active role in their birth experience.
Lamaze breathing involves using specific patterns of breathing, such as slow, deep breaths, to help manage the sensations of contractions and reduce the perception of pain. The technique also includes using relaxation techniques, such as progressive muscle relaxation and visualization, to help reduce stress and anxiety during labor.
Lamaze breathing is still widely used today and is considered to be a relevant and effective technique for managing pain during labor. In fact, many healthcare providers and childbirth educators still recommend the use of Lamaze breathing as a way for women to take an active role in their birth experience and to reduce the need for pain medications.

It’s important to note that every woman’s experience of labor is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Some women may find Lamaze breathing to be very effective, while others may prefer alternative techniques, such as hypnobirthing or the Bradley method.
I incorporate both Lamaze and Bradley methods into my birth preparation classes and specifically in Hypnobirthing.
